SPLIT FLANGE COUPLINGS
Aluminium Split Flange Couplings
Aluminium couplings are reusable and are manufactured to suit a range of hard wall pulp and slurry hoses. The split flange coupling is designed for pressures of up to 1000 kPa and is ideal for connection hose-to-hose, hose-to-steel pipe or hose-to HDPE pipe.
- Hoses can be cut to desired length and flanged onsite, eliminating unneccesary stockpiling.
- Onsite flanging with split flange couplings reduces operational downtime.
- Split flange couplings are available for hoses from 76 to 560mm in diameter.
- Split flange couplings are drilled to suit requirements.
Composition
The split flange coupling is cast from a high-grade corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy. The coupling consists of two halves with an internal helical impression which corresponds to the corrugation on the rubber hose cover.
The couplings are designed for fast simple fitting and do not require any special tools. When the hose requires replacing, the split flange coupling can be reused.
- Cast from a high-grade LM06 H/S, corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy.
- Warranted for 60 000 hours of operation.
- Fitted with anti-seize bearings for extended service life.
Assembly Instructions
- Measure the required hose length and mark the cutting point. Cut the hose using a thin, sharp knife. Adding a small amount of water to the cutting area will aid the cutting procedure. Once cut through, bend the hose apart and pull a portion of the steel wire spiral out of the hose carcass. Cut the exposed wire with a bolt cutter or hacksaw, ensuring that the cut end is covered by rubber.
- Fit the split flange coupling halves on the hose so that the helical impression matches the hose corrugation and the hose end projects 2 to 3mm beyond the coupling. Bolt the flanged halves together firmly (to a maximum opening of approximately 2mm between the halves).
- Trim the hose to be flushed with the flanges.
- A split flange ring gasket must now be placed between the split flange coupling and mating flange. The gasket is made of soft rubber to compensate for unevenness in the hose end surface, preventing any possible leakage.
